I’m sharing my third pattern for the 2020 Scarf and Hat of the Month Club with Oombawka Design Crochet and The Stitchin’ Mommy that you can make with one pack of mini skeins! The Ocean Fade Scarf is a fringe scarf crochet pattern that uses a simple stitch combination and has no ends to weave in!

Today I’m sharing an asymmetrical fringe scarf crochet pattern. I used most of a skein of WeCrochet Brava Worsted in Clarity as a neutral.
The Ocean Fade Scarf uses the easy peasy stitch combination known as the lemon peel stitch, or the pebble stitch, or the crinkle stitch.
If you’ve never made this stitch pattern before, I’ve included a video tutorial. It adds texture and it makes the color changes a lot more interesting.
This is a great gender-neutral pattern that you could customize by changing the colors you use.

Fringe Scarf Crochet Pattern by Underground Crafter
This textured, fringed scarf uses a simple stitch combination. Worked along the length, you’ll have no ends to weave in at all! It’s a perfect project for mini skeins and is the third of four patterns made from a single WeCrochet Brava yarn Mini Packs with 24 mini skeins of yarn.
Finished Size
- Teen/Adult: 66.5” (169 cm) circumference x 5” (13 cm) height not including fringe.
Materials
- WeCrochet Brava yarn Mini Packs (100% acrylic, 18 oz/600 g/1308 yd/1196 m) in 28460 Blues – 1 mini skein each in 28413 Black (A), 28435 Hunter (B), 28418 Celestial (C), 28442 Peacock (D), 28450 Silver (E), 28412 Avocado (F), 28454 Tranquil (G), 28443 Peapod (H), 28451 Sky (I), 28438 Mint (J), 28428 Dove Heather (K), and 28419 Clarity (L), or approximately 32 yd (29.5 m) each in A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, and K in any medium weight yarn.
- WeCrochet Brava Worsted yarn (100% acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g/218 yd/200 m) – 1 skein in 28419 Clarity, or approximately 195 yd (178.5 m) in L in any medium weight yarn.
- US Size I-9/5.5 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Yarn needle.
- Optional: Rotary cutter, acrylic ruler, and self-healing mat. I used the 45 mm rotary cutter and mat from the Cricut Rotary Cutting Kit with the 3” acrylic ruler.
Gauge
- 14 sts = 4” (10 cm) wide in pattern. Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern.
Abbreviations Used in This Pattern
- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet
- rep – repeat
- sc – single crochet
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- yo – yarn over
- * Repeat instructions after asterisk as indicated.
Pattern Notes
- This scarf is crocheted flat in rows lengthwise. The yarn tails at the beginning and end of each row form part of the fringe, so there are no ends to weave in.
- Start and end each color change with a long strand of yarn, approximately 7” (18 cm) long, or approximately 1” (2.5 cm) longer than desired final length of fringe.
- Change colors in the final yo of the row. AllFreeCrochet has a helpful tutorial for changing color in the last yo of the final dc of the row here.

Pattern Instructions
Scarf
- With A, ch 231 (or any odd number of sts).
- Row 1: Turn, skip 1 ch, sc in next 230 ch. (230 sts)
- Row 2: Turn, ch 1, starting in first st [sc in next st, dc in next st] across, changing to B in last yo of final dc. Fasten off A.
- Row 3: Rep Row 2, changing to C in last yo of final dc. Fasten off B.
- Row 4: Rep Row 2, changing to D in last yo of final dc. Fasten off C.
- Row 5: Rep Row 2, changing to E in last yo of final dc. Fasten off D.
- Row 6: Rep Row 2, changing to F in last yo of final dc. Fasten off E.
- Row 7: Rep Row 2, changing to G in last yo of final dc. Fasten off F.
- Row 8: Rep Row 2, changing to H in last yo of final dc. Fasten off G.
- Row 9: Rep Row 2, changing to I in last yo of final dc. Fasten off H.
- Row 10: Rep Row 2, changing to J in last yo of final dc. Fasten off I.
- Row 11: Rep Row 2, changing to K in last yo of final dc. Fasten off J.
- Row 12: Rep Row 2, changing to L in last yo of final dc. Fasten off K.
- Rows 13-17: Rep Row 2, 5 times without changing color in last st.
- Row 18: Turn, ch 1, sc in first st and in each st across. Fasten off L.
Fringe
- Cut 14” (35.5 cm) pieces of yarn (or add approximately 1”/2.5 cm to your planned final length of fringe and then double that number) for fringe as follows:
- Cut 5 pieces each from colors A-K.
- Cut 17 pieces from color L.
- Prepare 36 groups of fringe (one group for each row on each side of scarf) as follows.
- Take 2 pieces of yarn in 2 different colors.
- Fold each group of 2 strands of yarn in half.
- Attach fringe using crochet hook at end of each row, incorporating hanging yarn tail from that row into group. See Pattern Notes for detailed photo tutorial for attaching fringe.
- Repeat for each row on each side of scarf.
- Trim fringe to approximately 6” (15.5 cm). I used the rotary cutter method. See Pattern Notes for video tutorial for trimming fringe with rotary cutter.
