Rudy The Reindeer

Rudy The Reindeer’s nose is shining bright, and he’s ready to fly Santa’s sleigh this holiday season.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

The pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms, complete with clear instructions and pictures to help you along the way. Rudy The Reindeer is crocheted in continuous spirals without joining the rounds. I suggest using a stitch marker or different color yarn to keep track of each round. Rudy The Reindeer crocheted in worsted weight yarn is approximately 6 inches tall (including antlers). Be aware that the final size may vary depending on the yarn and hook size used. Gauge is not particularly important, just be consistent with the tension you are using. And, most importantly, have fun!

  • Cut the working yarn and leave an EXTRA long tail for the snout.
  • Pull the yarn through the last stitch instead of fastening off.
  • Thread the remaining yarn through a yarn needle and insert the needle under both loops of the stitch to the left of the last stitch - from outside to inside.
  • Then insert your needle through the middle of the V - of the last crocheted stitch to the right - from outside to inside.
  • Cut a long piece of red yarn. Make a knot on the inside of the snout and sew between R1-R2, leaving 2 stitches open.
  • Keep going over the piece until you're happy.
  • Finish off with a knot to secure.
  • Set aside until assembly.
