Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
A little handmade buddy for a wonderful teacher or school helper! This crochet pencil gift card holder is a fun and thoughtful way to say thank you while adding a personal touch to your gift.
Skill Level: Beginner
This no-sew pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms, complete with clear instructions and video tutorial to help you along the way. Pencil Gift Card Buddy is crocheted in the round/continuous spirals without joining the rounds. I suggest using a stitch marker or different color yarn to keep track of each round. Pencil Gift Card Buddy is crocheted in super bulky chenille yarn and is approximately 3 inches tall. Be aware that size may vary depending on the yarn and hook size used. Gauge is not particularly important, just be consistent with the tension you are using. And most importantly, have fun!

- Super Bulky (6) Weight Yarn
- Premier Parfait Chunky in yellow (~13 yards/10 grams)
- Premier Parfait Chunky in grey (~2 yards/1 gram)
- Premier Parfait Chunky in pink (~12 yards/9 grams)
- H (5.00mm) crochet hook
- 14mm safety eyes
- Black thread or yarn
- Yarn/Embroidery needle
- Scissors
- Locking Stitch Markers (optional)
- Measuring Tape (optional)

Abbreviations
- sc – single crochet
- st/sts – stitch(es)
- inc – increase (add 2 single crochet stitches into a stitch)
- dec – decrease (join 2 single crochet stitches into 1)
- ch – chain
- R1- round 1
- ( ) – repeat this group of stitches
- flo – front loop only
- blo – back loop only
Pencil Gift Card Buddy Pattern Example
If a line is written with a single “inc”, “dec” or “sc” – make one single crochet increase, decrease, or single crochet into one stitch only.
(inc, sc) 6 times {18 sts}
(2 single crochets in one stitch, then single crochet in the next stitch) – repeat that sequence a total of 6 times for a total of 18 stitches
(dec, sc in next 2 sts) 6 times {18 sts}
(join 2 single crochets into 1, and then single crochet in next 2 stitches) – repeat that sequence a total of 6 times for a total of 18 stitches

Pencil Gift Card Buddy Full Pattern
GIFT CARD HOLDER

Using color yellow

Make a slipknot and chain 12

R1: sc in the 2nd chain from hook, sc in next 10 ch sts

Working down the other side of the chain

sc in next 11 ch sts {22 sts}

We will be working in continuous rounds. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch of the round and continue to crochet into the next stitch to start R2.

Make sure R1 measures at least 3.25 inches long (8.25cm).

*If R1 is smaller than 3.25 inches, go up a hook size and start R1 over.

*If R1 is bigger than 3.25 inches, stay the same hook size and move on to R2.

R2-7: sc in next 22 sts {22 sts}

We’re going to pause to place the eyes and embroider a nose. Secure working yarn with a stitch marker. Place 14mm safety eyes between R5 and R6, leaving 4 stitches open. Secure safety eyes.

Using embroidery floss, embroider a smile over one stitch between R4/R5 and R5/R6. Optional: add pink cheeks under the eyes with pink worsted weight yarn.

R8: sc in next 22 sts {22 sts}

Change to color grey

R9: sc in next 22 sts {22 sts}

Change to color pink

R10-12: sc in next 22 sts {22 sts}

R13: (dec, sc in next 4 sts) 3 times, dec, sc in next 2 sts {18 sts}

Leave a long tail and fasten off or make a seamless join.

Tuck in R12-R19 to the inside of the holder, leaving about 2 pink rounds showing.
