Tofino Basket
The Tofino Basket is the perfect size to hold your desktop accessories. With its rope-like bottom, and earthy colors, it’ll fit into any modern decor.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
The pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms. Tofino Basket is crocheted in sport/DK weight cotton yarn. Hold two strands of yarn together. I suggest using a stitch marker or different color yarn to keep track as needed.
Round Basket
Finished Dimensions: ~ 4” wide and 3” tall
Square Basket
Finished Dimensions: ~ 4.5” wide and 3” tall

Tofino Basket Pattern Example
I used sport/DK weight cotton yarn for this project, holding two pieces of yarn at the same time. Please note if you use worsted weight yarn, the dimensions will be slightly bigger.
Three different hook sizes (G/H/I) are required for this pattern. If you don’t switch hook sizes when stated, the bottom part of the basket will be significantly smaller than the top.
Round Basket: Gauge: Using H/(5.0 mm) hook, First 4 rounds = 3.5” across
Square Basket: Gauge: Using H/(5.0 mm) hook, First 4 rounds = 2.5” across
Waistcoat stitch: Insert the hook in the middle of the V from the previous row, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on the hook.
The base is worked in joined rounds. The body is worked in continuous, unjoined rounds.
For joined rounds, slip stitch into the first hdc of the previous round, not the Chain 1.
After the chain 1 at the beginning of the round, work your first stitch into the same stitch with the slip stitch.
Ch 1, (hdc inc) 10 times, join with a sl st {20 sts}
Chain 1, (place two half double crochet into each stitch) – repeat that sequence 10 times for a total of 20 stitches, join with a slip stitch
Ch 1, (hdc in next 2 sts, hdc inc) 10 times, join with a sl st {40 sts}
Chain 1, (place one half double crochet into each of the next two stitches, then place two half double crochet into the next stitch)- repeat that sequence 10 times for a total of 40 stitches, join with a slip stitch
Ch 1, (hdc, 3hdc) 2 times, join with a sl st {8 sts}
Chain 1, (half double crochet into the next stitch, then place three half double crochet into the next stitch) – repeat that sequence 2 times for a total of 8 stitches, join with a slip stitch
