Color Mauve

Using H/5mm Hook

R1: 4 hdc into a magic circle, join with a sl st {4 sts}

R2: Ch 1, (hdc, 3hdc) 2 times, join with a sl st {8 sts}

R3: Ch 1, (hdc, 3hdc) 4 times, join with a sl st {16 sts}

R4: Ch 1, hdc in next 2 sts, (3hdc, hdc in next 3 sts) 3 times, 3hdc, hdc in last st, join with a sl st {24 sts} Should measure about 2.5" across at this point.

R5: Ch1, hdc in next 3 sts, (3hdc, hdc in next 5 sts) 3 times, 3hdc, hdc in next 2 sts, join with a sl st {32 sts}

R6: Ch1, hdc in next 4 sts, (3hdc, hdc in next 7 sts) 3 times, 3hdc, hdc in next 3 sts, join with a sl st {40 sts}

R7: Ch1, hdc in next 5 sts, (3hdc, hdc in next 9 sts) 3 times, 3hdc, hdc in next 4 sts, join with a sl st {48 sts}

Tip R7 starts the ridge of the basket, good to know for counting rounds.

Change to an I/5.5mm hook

R8: Ch 1, loosely sl st into the back loop only plus the back bar from R7, join with a sl st {48 sts}

R9-10: Ch 1, loosely sl st into the back loop only, join with a sl st {48 sts}

Change to a G/4mm hook

Change to Color Cream

Start working in continuous rounds at the end of R11.

R11: Change colors on Ch 1, loosely single crochet into the back loop only in the next 48 sts, do not join {48 sts}

R12: skip the sl st and ch 1, waistcoat st directly into the next stitch, waistcoat st in the next 47 sts {48 sts}

R13-R16: waistcoat st in the next 48 sts {48 sts}

R17: sl st in the next 48 sts {48 sts}

Finish off by making 3 more slip stitches and then a seamless join.
