Chain 1, turn. Fold the short sides together and sl st across.

Leave about a 24 inch tail and fasten off.

Turn the pumpkin inside out.

Using the yarn tail, make a running stitch along the top of the pumpkin.

Cinch the running stitch closed.

Thread the needle up through the pumpkin.

Make another running stitch along the other side of the pumpkin.

Cinch the running stitch closed.

Insert the yarn needle down the top reaching through to the bottom of the pumpkin - go a bit off center.
Make sure to leave a big enough hole for your stick stem.

Re-insert your needle through the bottom and pull through to the top again.

Pull taut to bring the middle together. Move over a bit and repeat - doing this a few times. This will give the pumpkin some shape.

Make a knot on the bottom of the pumpkin to secure and finish off by weaving in the yarn.

Glue a cinnamon stick into the middle hole of the pumpkin.
